Family Practice is a medical specialty that provides primary care to people of ALL ages from newborns to the elderly.  Our approach is proactive with an emphasis on preventive care. We treat both chronic and acute health problems.  Should you need the services of another specialist your family doctor will coordinate your care across the health care spectrum.   After medical school, our family doctors completed three year Residency programs where they received advanced training in pediatrics, minor surgery, internal medicine, gynecology, orthopedics, cardiology, geriatrics, psychiatry, and preventive medicine. To become board-certified by the American Board of Family Practice, they had to pass a rigorous examination. In order to keep their board certification, they must be re-examined every 6 years. They have also met the medical licensing standards for the state of Virginia.

Our PA's (Physician Assistants) have completed masters level Physician Assistant Programs and have undergone testing by the Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. To maintain certification, they must log 100 hours of continuing education every two years and take the recertification exam every 6 years. They have met the licensing requirements of the state of Virginia and have prescriptive privileges.
