Dr. Cecily Havert and the NVFP team enjoyed participating in the Walk4HEaring event on October 19th. It was a day dedicated to supporting the Hearing Loss Association of America’s (HLAA) outreach and awareness programs.
As the mother of a child born with profound hearing loss, Dr. Havert knew firsthand the difference these programs can make in the lives of families. As a toddler, her son Jonah received cochlear implants, which are surgically implanted devices that give a deaf individual access to sound again. Guided by a special team of speech therapists, audiologists, and educators, Jonah learned how to “hear” and eventually speak. That was 10 years ago and Jonah wouldn’t be where he is today without the help of organizations like HLAA.
We want to thank everyone that participated in the event or donated to the HLAA. A total of $59,964 was raised at the DC walk to support the Hearing Loss Association of America’s outreach and awareness program. Below are a few highlights from the walking event.
