More Myths Debunked!

Yes! Running is still an option!!

Have you ever felt consumed by certain standards that the “ideal healthy individual” achieves? For example: 8 hours of sleep is absolutely necessary for optimal health. 10,000 steps or bust!

Well, what if we gave ourselves a bit of grace, and recognize that exercise and health are not a one size fits all endeavor. In an interview with NPR’s Terry Gross and Professor Daniel Lieberman, they analyze and debunk certain health ideals and/or myths that possibly cause us to stress instead of embrace success! Most importantly, they take a quick dive into the aging adult and exercise.

Great takeaways:

  • “I think one of the most important points about physical activity is that as we age, it becomes not less but more important to be physically active” (Gross, 2021.)
  • …the mechanisms that get turned on when we do a little bit of strength training don’t diminish with age. So if you’re in your 80s or 90s and you do a little bit of strength training, you’ll still get enormous benefits” (Gross, 2021.)

Have you considered adding to your exercise routine but don’t know where to start? Or have a nagging discomfort that is keeping you from your intended routine? Remember to reach out at www.movement-x.com for a free consultation for physical therapy or personal training. Or simply email [email protected] to pair you with someone that can help!

More on the Zoom Spotlight Fix

For those of you still having issues with the Zoom Spotlight feature, it seems that fully uninstalling (not just deleting and downloading again) is an important step in resolution! See the instructions below, which have specifics to any device you are using for class. Thank you for your patience!

Let’s start by trying to uninstall the zoom desktop application. Please follow the steps outlined here: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362983-How-to-uninstall-Zoom-on-a-Mac-

After doing so we will need to re-install the zoom application.

1. Navigate to Zoom’s Download Center and select Download for Zoom Client for Meetings.

2. Run the downloaded installer file and follow the instructions to install.
