Dr. Gardner grew up in Virginia Beach and attended Virginia Military Institute where he was a class officer, cadet captain, and on the wrestling team. After graduating from the West Virginia University School of Medicine, he completed his Family Practice internship at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, VA. From 1979-1982 he was a general medical officer in the U.S. Army serving in Germany and the Netherlands. He returned to Virginia Beach to finish his residency at the First Colonial Family Practice program of the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Gardner has been in private practice since 1985 and has been active in various medical organizations. He enjoys the challenge of Family Practice, especially in the areas of disease prevention and healthy living. Dr. Gardner and his wife reside in Alexandria. He is a military history buff and is currently researching his family genealogy.

Dr. Cornwell grew up in Alexandria, Virginia and graduated from Indiana University. He earned his medical degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He completed his Family Practice residency at Fairfax Family Practice, Fairfax, Virginia through the Medical College of Virginia where he received the distinction of Chief Resident. Dr. Cornwell enjoys caring for people of all ages. He has been practicing in Northern Virginia since 1990. An avid swimmer, he also enjoys skiing, kayaking, and biking. He resides in Alexandria.

Dr. Natasha Lewry Beauvais was raised in Manchester, New Hampshire and received her B.A. from Yale University. She received her M.D. and Master of Public Health degrees from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at SUNY Stony Brook and at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine Jamaica Hospital Family Practice Residency in New York City. Prior to joining Northern Virginia Family Practice Associates, Dr. Beauvais practiced with Unity Health Care in downtown Washington, D.C. from 2004 – 2007. She emphasizes caring for the whole family and for the whole person and values patient relationships built through long-term continuity of care. She lost two grandparents to preventable diseases, and developed a personal compassion for the difficulties of Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s dementia when her other grandparents developed these. She has a fondness for grandparents everywhere! In her spare time, she enjoys mothering her four children, gardening with her husband, and taking family hikes in the woods.

Dr. Nemeth has been in private practice in the greater DC area for almost two decades, and joined NVFPA on July 3, 2017. Canadian by birth, Dr. Nemeth graduated from the College of William and Mary, and received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. He completed his residency in family medicine at Reading Hospital and Medical Center in West Reading, Pennsylvania. Reflecting a deep interest in nurturing the next generation of physicians, Dr. Nemeth mentored students at George Washington Medical School from 2006 to 2016. Dr. Nemeth practices family medicine with a focus on proactive wellness, including an emphasis on nutrition and weight management. In his spare time, he enjoys a variety of hobbies, including cars, photography and learning about wine.
Dr. Cecily Dvorak Havert is a board certified family medicine physician with special interests in women’s health, mental health, and preventative health care. Born in Minnesota, she earned her BS degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, her medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and completed her Family Medicine Residency at Fairfax Family Practice-VCU. She has been practicing in the Northern Virginia area for the past 14 years.
In addition to providing compassionate patient care, Dr. Havert enjoys teaching medical students and has been appointed a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Georgetown University. She also remains active in healthcare policy on behalf on the American Academy of Family Physicians.
A long time tennis enthusiast, Dr. Havert continues to play on a regular basis. She also enjoys hiking, going to concerts, traveling (especially to her favorite city New Orleans), and painting. She lives in Arlington with her husband (a fellow Badger whom she met at UW-Madison) and 2 young boys who are always looking for their next adventure. A lover of all animals big and small, Dr. Havert also cares for a mischievous cat and 2 bearded dragon lizards.
Currently practicing at General Internal Medicine Group in Arlington, Dr. Havert will be transitioning in June 2019 to a concierge style of medicine at Northern Virginia Family Practice Associates in Alexandria. There she hopes to offer a more personalized medicine experience to her patients.

Jessica Ware joined Northern Virginia Family Practice in 2003. She enjoys the diversity of primary care and developing long term relationships with her patients. Since she transitioned her practice into the personalized preventive model she sees the value of having more time with each patient, allowing her to provide the best medical care possible. In this more relaxed environment, she can focus on all aspects of the patient’s health from their physical, social, and emotional well-being, promote overall wellness and encourage patients to be proactive participants in their healthcare. Ms. Ware is passionate about treating each patient as an individual and tailoring their treatment plans. Her special interests include diabetes, thyroid disease, women’s health, adolescent and pediatric medicine.
Jessica grew up in New Fairfield, CT and attended North Carolina State University. She graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at George Washington University in 2001. She is board certified through the NCCPA. In her spare time she enjoys seeing her identical twin sister who is also a physician assistant, volunteering at her children’s school and would love to earn her black belt one day. She lives in Alexandria with her husband and two children.
Dr. Pat Tokarz grew up in Kingsport, Tennessee and attended Stanford University for his undergraduate degree. He received his medical training at the University of Tennessee, Center for Health Care Services, Memphis. Dr. Tokarz completed his Family Practice residency, followed by a teaching fellowship, at Hershey Medical Center. He enjoys the continuity and comprehensive nature of Family Practice and has been practicing in Northern Virginia since 1978. He has been involved in various medical organizations, the recipient of numerous awards and was a clinic professor at George Washington Medical School and at Georgetown University Medical School. Dr. Tokarz resides in Alexandria with his wife and their two sons. He enjoys crew, tennis, and hiking in the nearby mountains. After over 30 years at Northern Virginia Family Practice, Dr. Tokarz retired from practicing medicine in December 2014. He currently serves as Chief Medical Advisor for Specialdocs Consultants, LLC, a leader in transitioning traditional medical practices to independent concierge models.

Lauren joined NVFP in 2011 after relocating from Wake Forest, North Carolina. Her interest in healthcare started while taking some elective classes in high school that focused on different aspects of the medical field. She followed that interest and continued her education at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where she majored in Health Information Management and Health Service Management. Lauren is enjoying the challenge of managing a successful family practice and is committed to helping NVFP continue to provide the highest quality of care and service to our patients. During her spare time, Lauren enjoys spending time with her family and friends, staying active, and cooking.
Ana Ramos has been a valued member of our team since joining our practice in 1995. Ana’s interest in medicine stems back to her childhood when she was inspired by visiting her local hospital in El Salvador where her aunt served as a nurse and seeing the caregivers in action. After her family moved to the U.S. when she was 17, Ana pursued her dream and became a medical assistant. Now a parent of three daughters, ranging from eight months to 12 years old, Ana has her future sights set on earning a nursing degree…but as any working parent understands, plans to wait until her children are a bit older! Ana values collaborating with Dr. Gardner and all the providers at Northern Virginia Family Practice, and treasures the long-term relationships she has formed with her patients.
Catheryn joined NVFP in February of 2014 and has been enjoying caring for our patients in this unique and friendly environment ever since. From a young age Catheryn’s loving parents instilled a caring and nurturing nature in her that has carried over to her career in healthcare. She enjoys helping others and is glad to be part of a practice that offers high quality care to its patients. Continuing to learn and further her education is important to Catheryn and she plans to return to school in the future. Catheryn was born in Arlington and raised in Alexandria, with her three siblings, after her parents migrated from El Salvador in the mid-1970s. She now lives in the area with her husband, two sweet daughters, step-son, and lovable dog named Bear who thinks he is the life of the party! Catheryn enjoys cooking and trying new foods, shopping (retail therapy), and cherishing every moment she spends with her family.
Brittiny loves the care that we provide for our patients here at NVFP. Born locally in Washington, D.C., Brittiny was raised here in Alexandria where she currently resides. She lives her beautiful baby girl, Dakota. Since she joined the practice in July 2017, she has found that the great work atmosphere is what keeps her here and motivated daily. In her spare time, she enjoys doing dealing with anything nails and makeup. While working, Brittiny continues her education and hopes to become a physician assistant one day.
Dana joined the NVFP family in July 2017. She is a Falls Church native who really loves helping people. Dana resides in Alexandria with her mother and 2 cats. She finds the work environment here to be positive; therefore she can easily become a workaholic. She has her personal goals set to go back to school or join the navy. The few times Dana is not working, you can catch her sleeping or hanging out with friends.
Jane joined NVFP in November of 2010 and has been enjoying working with our patients and dedicated staff ever since. Before making the career shift to healthcare, she worked as a flight attendant for Aviation Week & Space Technology, TWA and held different managerial positions at Borders Books. All of Jane’s past experience gave her a solid foundation in customer service which she uses every day to maintain a standard of excellence for our patients and staff. In her free time, Jane enjoys knitting, reading, playing golf, art, and photography. She also loves spending time with her son, two sisters, three nieces, and three wonderful grand-nephews.
Chon is a Northern Virginia native. She has been working for NVFP for over 10 years now. She loves the great location and the friendly staff. Chon feels like working here at NVFP, she really gets a chance to make a difference. In her spare time, Chon enjoys traveling, reading, learning Korean, and binge watching Korean dramas. Chon is also known as the brownie maker extraordinaire here in the office.
