Hello APYB! After an inspiring Tai Chi class with James, and a heart healthy workshop, we ramp up for another double EMOM workout!
Take a moment to reflect on what keeps you moving during the week. Is it the immediate satisfaction of a good sweat? Or is it the consistent investment towards your long-term goals of staying in your best health? Both are equally important – keep up the good work!

Words Matter – Choose to Empower! 🦸
The words we use absolutely matter, in all facets of life. But they may matter the most when we are in the healing process!
Why it matters: “Mounting research evidence indicates that psychological factors are more effective predictors of pain and disability than are pathoanatomical factors” (Stewart and Loftus, 2018).
So what does this mean? Fear surrounding pain or injuries can often be exacerbated when a client does not understand what is going on with their own bodies. It is the responsibility of clinicians to reinforce their client’s understanding of their rehabilitation, and build their confidence in the recovery process!
For example, instead of “wear and tear,” we replace that statement with “normal age changes.” Or instead of “instability,” we say “needs more strength and control.”
Go deeper: This also applies to the way we talk about ourselves and our own bodies. Remember, mindset matters, and positive self-talk can unlock potential you have not tapped into yet!
The bottom line: Remember, you have a team of physical therapists and personal trainers that can help you through the rehabilitation process. If you want a better understanding of your rehab journey, we are here to help understand and feel empowered!

Workshop Wrap Up: AgeProof Your Heart
Thanks to everyone who joined us yesterday for the AgeProof Your Heart Workshop! Charles walked us through a presentation covering heart disease and it’s risk factors, cardiac testing, heart attack signs, and creating a heart attack plan (yes you can be prepared if this happens!)
Big picture: Maybe the most important takeaway are the action items that are within your control – see “Life’s Simple 7” in the image above. Each of these action items are important, but some may speak to you more than others! What tops your list for a heart healthy lifestyle?
What’s next: Please click here AgeProof Your Heart Workshop to find the recording from yesterday’s presentation. If you have any questions after you watch, please reach out to [email protected]!
Also, keep your eyes peeled for our next stop in the workshop series – AgeProof Your Neck and Back coming June, 2021. You can also see the workshops to come by reviewing the class calendar found on the APYB website.
Questions? If at any point you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected] or Josh at [email protected]. We want you to feel supported and empowered at all times!
Thank you so much for your continued investment in your health, wellness, and ability to move well.
Yours in good health,
Meredith and the MovementX + NVFP Team
