Class Details and Reminders

  • When – LIVE! Class Time: Monday, March 15th at 12:00-1:00pm EST (9-10am PST). Doors will open at 11:45 am EST (8:45 am PST) for those with any questions or who would like to engage with the community prior to officially starting.
  • Where: For Monday’s class, simply click the link highlighted here when the time comes! The password is: 116899.
  • Equipment: All you will need for Monday’s class is:
    • A stable chair of about average height
    • An exercise mat and water bottle
    • Exercise attire and comfortable shoes

Power of Posture! Amy Cuddy TED Talk

During last week’s class, we explored posture and how it can play a tremendous role in how our body functions, especially when it comes to range of motion and strength. But what about the power pose and its psychological and physiological feedback effects?

Go deeper: In this 20 minute TED talk, Social psychologist Amy Cuddy reviews the topic of “power posing” (aka standing in a posture of confidence) and how it can psychologically boost feelings of confidence, and physiologically increase dominance hormones (testosterone) while decreasing stress hormones (cortisol).

The bottom line: Cuddy states, “Tiny tweaks can lead to big changes.” We know that to ring true as we continue to work on our health every week at APYB. With just two minutes of power posing, you can show up in life as your best and most confident self!

What’s next: With all of the questions around our posture class, we plan to do a workshop to help you navigate how to find better posture in your everyday life!

Until then, please remember you have a team of physical therapists and trainers that can help you address specific concerns around posture, such as:

  • Positions of discomfort
  • Limited range of motion
  • And everything in between!
