Normalizing Rehab Services

In our world of western medicine, preventative healthcare doesn’t often get to shine. But what if we were in the habit of prescribing movement more often? What if physical therapy wasn’t your last resort, but instead your monthly prescription?

Big picture: In research from Cieza et al. (2020, p. 2011) at least one in every three people in the world needs rehabilitation at some point in the course of their illness or injury, with low back pain topping the charts as the most prevalent condition reported.

Go deeper: Yet still, physical therapy is often overlooked and underutilized in the wellness spectrum. In fact, “low-cost rehabilitation interventions requiring minimal resources have been effective in improving functional outcomes” (Cieza et al., 2020, p. 2010).

Low-cost ✅ Minimal resources ✅ Great results! Talk about a win-win! 🤝

What’s next: We think that rehab should be a normal component of primary care! What do you think? Would you include rehab into your self-care routine? (…trick question AgeProofers, you already are each Monday! 🦸)

But also, we can help! Remember that you have a team of physical therapists and personal trainers that can help you rehab low back pain, or create a personalized preventative rehab routine!
